DESCRIPTION:The Beyond the Book Speaker Series brings experiential learning out of our classroom and into our community.\n\nIt is an opportunity for the entire community to engage in programs and learning that reaches beyond the regular curriculum and class work\, out in to the world.\n\nCommunity members are invited to engage with educators\, parents and students around topics that are happening inside and outside the classroom.\n\n \nThe first event in the Speaker Series welcomes:\n\n \n\nProject Voice presenter Sarah Kay\n\nThursday October 24\, 2017\n\n7:00-8:30pm\n\nat the Northshore Performing Arts Center\n\n(located on the Bothell High campus)\n\nThis all-ages event is free\, yet seats are limited.\n\n \n\nProject VOICE uses spoken word poetry to entertain\, educate\, and inspire. Through award-winning performances and innovative workshops\, Project VOICE promotes empowerment\, improves language skills\, and spurs creative collaboration in classrooms around the world. Project VOICE has a lasting impact\; students come away with a higher motivation to create\, a belief in their own voice\, and a desire to share and listen to each other's stories.\n\nSarah Kay is a spoken word poet\, educator and entrepreneur.
