SUMMARY:OktoberForest Begins! Beer Release and Pub Talk By Cairn Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Cairn Brewing is proud to tap the North Creek Common as part of our partnership with Friends of North Creek Forest and our neighbors at Micro Homebrew. Cairn is celebrating #OktoberForest\, a campaign led by the The Nature Conservancy in WA to highlight the close connection between the health of our forests and the health of our water beer's main ingredient. \n\n\n\n12 noon: tapping of the North Creek Common\, a Kentucky Common Ale brewed with wild-harvested spruce tips! By the pint and limited edition 22oz. bottle only. $1/pint and bottle goes to Friends of North Creek Forest.\n\n\n\n230pm: Pub Talk! The Connections Between North Creek Forest and Southern Resident Killer Whales--and also a Hiker and Beer Lover's View on Forests :) Featured speakers from Friends of North Creek Forest and Beers at the Bottom. \n\n\n\nCome join us!\n\n\n\nMore about #OktoberForest: OktoberForest's intent is to raise awareness and donations for U.S. forest restoration. Cairn Brewing will bring their OktoberForest participation to the community with a partnership to benefit the mature forest North Creek Forest\, located on 64 acres of land just north of downtown Bothell. North Creek Forest is part of the Sammamish River watershed.\n\n\n\nOktoberForest will feature events in North Creek Forest such as work parties and salmon-viewing as well as events in the Cairn taproom including a pub-style talk on the importance of forests to water quality and therefore the brewing process and beer\, learning activities for kids and a special craft beer. On Saturday\, October 6th\, Cairn Brewing will release the North Creek Common\, a Kentucky Common ale brewed with spruce tips. The recipe comes from our friends at Micro Homebrew and is a true American beer style that is rarely produced in commercial breweries \n\n\n\nThe North Creek Common is based on the infrequently-brewed style of the Kentucky Common\, found almost exclusively around the Louisville\, Kentucky area from post-Civil War to Prohibition. The North Creek Common is a darker-colored\, light-flavored\, malt-accented beer with a dry finish and interesting piney and spicy flavors from the malt and the wild-harvested spruce tips added to the whirlpool. It's a quite refreshing due to its high carbonation and mild flavors\, and highly sessionable due to being served very fresh and with lower alcohol levels. . The North Creek Common comes in at 28 IBUs and 5.5% ABV.
