SUMMARY:Pub Talk: Butterflies as Storytellers
DESCRIPTION:Cairn Brewing is proud to host Friends of North Creek Forest in the taproom with a featured presentation:\n\n\n\nButterflies as Storytellers - Dr. Amy Lambert\, UWBothell\n\n\n\nWhat are butterflies telling us? And how are we connected to their unique life histories?\n\n\n\nJoin me in a discussion on the varied characteristics of butterflies\, ecological importance of butterflies\, types of butterflies in the Bothell area\, and vital connection between forest health and butterfly conservation. I will also provide guidelines for butterfly habitat enhancement so you can create habitat in your own backyard!\n\n\n\nDr. Amy Lambert is an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Washington Bothell. She teaches a variety of courses from Restoration Ecology to Pollinator Diversity and Conservation. Her research focuses on species-level ecology (rare butterflies and pollinators)\, plant community restoration and the political and philosophical barriers that limit the study and preservation of imperiled species. She founded the CCUWBee Research Initiative in 2012 in an effort to involve students and members of the public in research projects that inform pollinator conservation. Over the years\, the CCUWBee Research Initiative has created an invaluable baseline measure of pollinator diversity on campus that will inform climate change studies in the future.\n\n \n\nOur pub talks are informal & held in our taproom--bring a friend or neighbor to learn more about environmental issues in our community.\n\n\n\nFNCF's team will be in the taproom to talk about their mission and share how you can get involved.\n\n\n\nHave a beer and support the forest! Enjoy the limited-edition Spruce Hugger\, a Red IPA brewed with wild-harvested spruce tips! By the pint\, growler fill and 16oz can. $1/pint and 16oz can goes to Friends of North Creek Forest.\n\n\n\nCome join us!\n\n\n\nMore about #OktoberForest: OktoberForest's intent is to raise awareness and donations for U.S. forest restoration. Cairn Brewing will bring their OktoberForest participation to the community with a partnership to benefit the mature forest North Creek Forest\, located on 64 acres of land just north of downtown Bothell. North Creek Forest is part of the Sammamish River watershed.\n\nhttps://www.friendsnorthcreekforest.org/
