Convergence: The Comprehensive Campaign to Save North Creek Forest – Jim Freese, FNCF former Executive Director & Founding Board member

The Friends of North Creek Forest (FNCF) brought together a wide array of compatible, and sometimes competing interests, in a way that rewarded each of them. The campaign mimicked the forest itself with its own complex ecology of people, landowners, businesses, agency staff and political bodies, working together to do what they could not do alone. Tonight’s question.... “How was this network created, maintained, and focused for the five years it took to protect North Creek Forest?”

Jim Freese was the founding Executive Director for Friends of North Creek Forest, serving from its beginning through successful conservation. He is a retired labor organizer, union president, wildlands hiker and climber. Jim has led successful local, state, and transnational campaigns. He has always identified as a member of the “Blue” community of labor and the “Green” community supporting a healthy planet. His term with FNCF brought together both of those interests.

Our pub talks are informal & held in our taproom--bring a friend or neighbor to learn more about environmental issues in our community.

FNCF's team will be in the taproom to talk about their mission and share how you can get involved.

Cairn Brewing will bring their OktoberForest participation to the community with a partnership to benefit the mature forest North Creek Forest, located on 64 acres of land just north of downtown Bothell. North Creek Forest is part of the Sammamish River watershed.
