Northshore Schools Foundation launches Skills 4 Life podcast focused on the jobs of the future.  

Northshore Schools Foundation is proud to announce the launch of our new Skills 4 Life podcast.  

 The podcast is focused on high demand jobs of the future and features interviews with professionals who are thriving in a job or industry that is marked to grow over the next decade.  

 “We hope students and parents will be intrigued by all the possibilities out there,” said Carmin Dalziel, Executive Director of the Northshore Schools Foundation. “We want students to be able to make learning relevant and course selection purposeful, while also encouraging creative new trails that will lead to fun successful careers.”   

Each episode includes information on potential careers, paths to industry growth, and what they can do right now to pursue that career.  Episodes that are already streaming include an exotic animal veterinarian, a global security expert, an anesthesiologist, a rocket scientist, and there is so much more in store.

Skills 4 Life podcast is an engaging and short weekly podcast for parents of  teens to inform and inspire them  about future career choices. One listener wrote “ Great show to listen in the car with your high school student. “ 

This show is brought to you by the Northshore Schools Foundation, a Top-Rated “Great Nonprofits” award-recipient, “GuideStar” Gold Participant, and Best of a “Best of Northshore” nonprofit. Helping students be prepared for life after high school is the goal of the Northshore Schools Foundation’s Build Skills for Life Initiative.  

The podcast was a brainchild of the Foundation’s Build Skills for Life committee. When COVID-19 shut down its opportunity to offer a second year of in-person Career Days and Life Skills Days, the committee got creative to offer these same opportunities in a different format.  “Doing a podcast seemed like a fun thing to do,” said committee chair Mary Drews. “We know parents are listening to podcasts a lot these days and we thought if we kept them short enough, they might be intrigued and share them with their students. Our goal is to provide a diverse lineup of career representatives so that every student in Northshore will find at least one that they are excited about,” said Drews.
