Join us for an afternoon of wonderful music at the beautiful Bastyr University Chapel.
We open the concert with the delightful romantic overture The Hebrides or The Fingal’s Cave by Felix Mendelssohn, a piece which was inspired by the composer's travels to Scotland.
It is my hope that hearing Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra by contemporary Austrian genius pianist and composer Frederick Gulda will be a surprise for many of you. This piece features the incredible cellist, Nathan Chan!
After intermission you will hear a monumental masterpiece: Symphony No.4 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, also known as Fate Symphony. It illustrates the composer's struggle between longing for happiness and the inevitability of fate.
