About Us

BECU is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative serving more than 1 million members. Established in 1935 by a group of Boeing employees, a small group of people wanted to help folks buy the tools they needed to get hired during the Great Depression. More than 80 years later, BECU is still guided by that credit union philosophy of ''people helping people.'' As not-for-profits, credit unions return profits to members in the form of better rates, fewer fees, and more financial services. At a credit union, you're a member, and you're also an owner. By putting your money into the credit union, you “buy” a piece of the cooperative model.
